I am so delighted to see people taking charge of their health and looking for new ways to bring natural and complementary remedies into their life.  One magnificent health approach is to use Far Infrared Rays.  The question is – what is the right health tool?

Here are some questions to ask yourself as you are deciding what health tool to consider:

• How am I going to use it?  Do you want to use it in your sleep; will you make time for daily or weekly sessions; will I use it while reading or watching TV?
• How acute is the condition that I want to treat?  Will I need something stronger for something that is more painful?
• What is my budget?  How much money do I want to invest in my health?
• What size of equipment do I need – are there weight, height  or size capacities that I need to take into consideration when looking at the different options?

Far Infrared Clothing:

This is clothing that has either far infrared fibers woven into the material, or a coating on the clothing.  You can get wrist and ankle supports, t-shirts and pants, socks.

From my research, it looks like the products with the far infrared fibers woven in last longer than those with a coating (they wash off over time).

It’s affordable – less than $100 per item; however, if you want to have a full far infrared outfit, and you want to have 2 full outfits (one on, and one in the wash), it does add up quickly and can accumulate to costing $500 plus.  There are naturally occurring biological materials that emit far infrared that get reflected back into your body.

My perception is that wearing far infrared clothing is like wearing wool clothing (keeping the heat in) and the far infrared material reflects some gentle far infrared rays into the body.  How deep these far infrared rays penetrate I’m not sure – I couldn’t find any information about this from the sites I reviewed.

It seems to be readily available.  I’ve even seen far infrared clothing at a sports store and far infrared wrist supports at my local pharmacy.

It’s easy to use, as you simply put it on.

Far Infrared Domes

There appear to be many different far infrared domes on the market, ranging from a full body length silver plastic-like flexible material, to a more sturdy plastic dome that comes in approximately 1 foot lengths.

From what I researched, the reviews commented that the full body silver plastic-like domes are not as durable as the sturdy plastic domes, but they have the advantage of being full body.  These ones go for about $600.

The sturdy plastic domes appear to start at about $800 for each 1 foot section.  They seem to last longer and have a better warranty.

The far infrared rays from these domes penetrate approximately 1-1/2 inches into the body.

You need to have the space to lay the domes out on the floor, and put them on top of you.  You also need to consider the capacity of the dome – take note of the measurements and measure to see whether or not you will fit inside (some reviews I read commented that they bought it and then couldn’t fit inside comfortably).

These domes actually generate heat and use electricity to create the far infrared rays and warmth.  This also means that you are surrounded by EMF’s, so if you are sensitive to Electro Magnetic Frequencies, or if since you are investing in your health and you prefer to choose a product that does not add something detrimental to your health, I recommend you keep reading below and take a look at the Amethyst Biomat®.

Far Infrared Sauna

Far Infrared Saunas are different from regular saunas, as they use a dry heat, through far infrared rays.  The most popular sizes of these saunas range from single person units to 4 person units.

The far infrared rays from these saunas typically penetrate 1-3 inches into the body.
